Eden: Live and In Color

In her first film debut, Eden Grace!
So-it's not THAT exciting-I mean, she is only 2 1/2 months old. She sure is cute,though...AND you get to hear me talk "baby-talk". Don't make fun, just say "awwwwww".

A little of this...

Ahhhhh...
The baby is asleep
so is the dog, for that matter.
AND the cat!
Perfect opportunity to update.
-Unless the dog starts barking
and wakes the baby up
and the cat goes crazy (she goes crazy ALOT)

Tim played a show! I don't recall the date-but many gathered round and listened to the "trippy loop pedal music" -as our friends like to call it. The gentleman to the left is our friend Mike. He plays a little drum machine and some BASS on the keyboard. I told him that the hat stays. They played at a coffee shop in our neighborhood called Calypsos. They display local artists on the walls and make a great Chai Latte! I think I might try and get some artwork up there.

Eden insisted on laying and listening to Tim. She's on a coffee table and that's my Chai. She didn't want to be held until later. I think she enjoyed the music! She fell asleep on the table while they were playing-which made me laugh because you had to speak up to even hear the person next to you.

I was outside sitting on our bench swing and Buckley decided to climb up and lay on my lap. I think sometimes he thinks he is smaller than he really is. It was cute anyways.

First visit to the beach! Man, it was HOT that day!

First shots-and it was not very exciting. BUT - we did find out that Eden is growing FAST! Her weight jumped up to 12lbs, she is 24.25 inches long, and her head is 40cm! -Just take a measuring tape and see how big 40cm that is. Hooray for Harlow Heads!

Our friends have an annual Fourth of July party and Tim plays music on their porch.

EDEN on the 4th of July. She practically slept through the whole thing. Loud booming fireworks didn't even startle her. I DID have her wrapped up pretty cosy as you can see.

She is starting to get this twinkle in her eye when she looks at Tim and I. And I actually caught it in a picture.

Tim was singing to Eden. You can see his arm at the top of the pic. She loved it!

More singing! I can't wait til she starts laughing!

Our neighbor helped us dig up the roots of a yucky tree we cut down. It was a Boxwood Elder, right dad? It had a lot of bugs living in it. We cut most of it down in May, and since then it turned into a green BUSH! Our neighbor actually broke his Bobcat shortly after this pic was taken. But don't worry, he fixed it.

She practically pushed me out of bed!!

Car rides are finally enjoyable!

It is PICNIC time..down by the water! oh-and baby JUST started crying. Perfect timing!

I wish I smiled that much in MY sleep

Someone told me the other day: You should post more on your blog!
And I thought, YEA! I SHOULD post more on my blog.
So here we are.

One of the most common things I hear after having little Eden is (in some form or another), "Time really flies by!! Just wait..It goes by soooo fast." At first I disagreed. We thought she would never smile and ALWAYS be cranky and cross-eyed! Heh heh.
But, wouldn't you know it, 2 months have already passed, we're seeing smiles every day, and...well...still a LITTLE cross-eyed from time to time...but getting better.

It has been pretty amazing to sit and stare at the little one. I know I may be pointing out the obvious, but she's so tiny. Like a miniature grown-up (I guess that's what they call a baby). Mini sneezes, mini coughs, tiny hands and fingers and feet and toes! Tiny finger nails and eye brows and ears...soon to be holding her head up and laughing. It's pretty nuts, if you ask me. And she's ours. AND I am in awe of the personality that is already forming. For example, she doesn't like to burp after she eats. She is very dramatic. She does NOT like having her arms wrapped up..they need to be free and ready to grab her ears at a moments notice. She seems pretty independent. Would rather lay on her back and look around than be held tight. She doesn't need to fall asleep in my arms. We can put her in her bed and she will lay there and "talk" to herself til she falls asleep. When she gets hungry, she makes it seem as if she hasn't eaten in months, perhaps years (and by that I mean she is very vocal and gets mad QUICK!).

Eden is also very hilarious. She will randomly throw up DISCO hands, possible gang signs and various numbers from 1 to 5. Sometimes when she is startled, both hands will fly up in to the air as if she was conducting an orchestra. She loves her pacifier/binky/NUK but will unknowingly grab it out of her mouth with her hands and throw it across the room...followed by a terribly sad cry as if asking,"Why would someone DO that??" She can't laugh quite yet, but will smile with her mouth WIDE open and just BREATHE. She is very ticklish..and that should be fun once the laughter comes.
She tends to smile mostly in the morning and really only gets fussy now if she is hungry, gassy, or annoyed. Oh, and she NEEDS NAPS - just like her daddy.

We are trying to pick out things such as: Who does she look like?
Who's personality does she have?
What things does she get from
mommy/daddy/our siblings/grandma/grandpa?
We haven't determined much yet, except for the naps thing.

I apologize in advance for how sick you may get of me talking about Eden. :)

In other news:
I started back at work part time. It has been going well. Everyone keeps asking me, "How are you doing...?" With that sad look in their eyes. It's really not that hard for me to have my mother in-law watch Eden a couple days a week. I think co-workers were expecting me to rush off to the bathroom every couple hours crying.

We planted a rose bush in the back yard and I hope it makes it. I don't know if it was the ideal spot because it seems pretty sunny back there most of the day. I have been watering it as much as possible. Tim has been really good about maintaining the front yard; watering/mowing/weeding etc.. and it looks really nice. When we first bought the house the lawn was brown.

June 20th was Lyla's birthday. Pretty crazy that it has already been a year. Still feels like yesterday... AND pretty crazy that is has been a year and we have a 2 month old! Uhhh..WOH! We went to visit her gravestone on the 20th. It looked beautiful and I am so happy with the way things turned out-from where she is buried to the picture on the gravestone. It was a bitter-sweet day. There is a new little one to the left of Lyla. They still had the flowers from their ceremony up. I wish Lyla would have been the LAST little baby to be buried there. Just terribly sad when new babies come.

Summer has definitely begun it Coeur d'Alene. Live music, boats out on the lake, street festivals.. Two weekends ago was Car d'Alene, where people bring their classic cars out and display them for all to see. Last weekend was the Ironman triathlon, which is amazing to watch. 2600 people compete: 2.5 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and a 26 mile run.

That's the latest for now.

A nap.

Let us Pray

Something about her face/eyes/nose/mouth reminds me of Carrie when she was little

Car D'Alene

"Where we're going, we don't need roads!"

Seriously??

Eight Days And Counting

Our baby celebration. Lot's of yummy food, great friends and TONS of diapers!

April 24th, here we come!
Are we ready?? Well, that depends on what you mean.
Do we have all the nick-nacks and baby gear and little outfits and onesies and booties (why does everything end in IES)?
YES-I THINK so.
Is the baby room done?
YES! Finally!!
Are we ready to take on the life-long amazing challenge of having a baby-diaper changing, bath giving, breast feeding (yep, I said it), burping, gas-ing, throwup-ing, awake all night, and that's just the beginning....?
WOH.
We are very excited but I lay awake at night (good practice, I suppose) thinking about all the new things we will encounter. It's almost overwhelming!!
All in all,
I can't wait to meet her.

Baby room in the making! BEFORE and AFTER

The Snuggler..I just bought him a bed today to put in our bedroom. No more jumping on the bed when the baby gets here.

Well-more pictures to come.
And did I mention 8 days left?

weekend of work

Working on the weekend!!! My favorite past-time. (sarcasm)
Slower than slow.
I read a book today at work.
Double Star by Robert Heinlein. Tim and I have been reading Heinlein and we both really like his books so far. I have only read the one mentioned and Have Spacesuit-Will Travel. Both good. Next stop, Stranger In A Strange Land.
That's one good thing about working on the weekends. You get to read a good book without too many distractions. Except for the beep-beep, take a phone call thing.
Double Star reminded me of the movie Dave. I wonder if that's where they got the idea.

This coming week we are going to Chicago! I have never had a paid vacation before. Nice.
It will be great to see some of our old friends...but, alas, no SUSHI. Now-I realize I cannot drink, and will probably get sleepy early-all ok. I have decided to make a list of place in Chicago that I MUST visit. And what do most pregnant women love to do? EAT! So I have made a list of several restaurants/diners that I miss since we moved to Idaho. And it goes:

Duck Walk - a little hole in the wall Thai restaurant. Pad Thai!
Las Pinatas - a tiny mexican place with pinatas hanging from every free space on the ceiling. (rehersal dinner anyone?)
BW3's - It's a chain but they have 4000 different wing flavors
Underdog - this little place down underground that has the best Chicago-style hotdogs. No ketchup aloud!
Brett's Kitchen - a little diner type place that makes really good sandwiches
Redmonds - Great location under the EL train. Good bar food
Grand Lux Cafe - Sure it's my old job but they had some killer food..and when you know some of the kitchen you can have them get deliciously creative.
Jade East - a little Chinese restaurant. The same lady would serve us every time.

and...that's what I came up with! I am hungry now just thinking of it. Where to first? That I don't know yet.

Well, work is over.
Time flies when you're having fun (sarcasm) :)
