smile...friday camera time

This is part of an art project I am working on for the frontof a friends vintage clothing store. Good ol Jimi

Part of a pic I put together for our wall. Except its not UP yet.

My trusty squinting eye/pirate eye.

Another part of the project for the store. It is very long. Still lots to do.

Tim introduces me to a lot of weird things.. "have you ever seen this??" "have you heard of this before?" i.e. a game called SNAFU. He tried to describe it to me..."a marble game..but it's made out of plastic..and there are these knobs you turn..and a bridge.." I asked, "you mean like the game Mouse Trap??" he replied, "I've never played that before." BUT...leave it to ebay to have good old SNAFU. and now it sits on our coffee table. and you would like it. I am now slightly obsessed. AND we got dinner with some friends that just had a baby, brought this SNAFU game with us...and the men had a tournament the whole time. now, our friend bought one that night on ebay too.

Nagle rockin out on our friend's keyboard he let us borrow. You can only hear it through head phones (it's a pretty nice one, actually)...so all i hear is a rhythm of tapping keys and look over to see him bouncing around to a tune I can't hear. (his nose is read because he's sick....caught it from me.. oops!)

My new/used boots from Land of the Lost (vintage clothing store). I wear them everywhere. They are old AirWalks...

More of that piece for our wall...basically the right-hand corner.

p.s. I wish you could hear him rockin our on the keyboard. It's all this tapping...no notes. tap-a-tap-a-tap-tap tap-tappity-tap-tap-tap-tap tappa-tap-a-tap-a-tap-tap-tap-sliiiiiiiiide-tap.

i love the little things

I never had a SNAFU - but a friend of mine did. It's sweet. Almost like that game we had called "Perfection". You know what SNAFU stands for?!?!?

Normal

F**ked

Yeah. That game rocks!

Hey - I wanted to say:
Good job getting some work making art in such a prominant space! It looks good! Hopefully it wil last for a long time! I bet it was fun collaging all that stuff together.

Can I ask what the reasoning was with the black and whites on the left and color on the right? Just curious. It creates a nice juxtaposition.

Where did you get all those materials in such large sizes?

Jase - So how long did it take you to think up what SNAFU stood for? We never thought of anything...pretty funny.

As far as the artwork goes..I liked the idea moving from black and white into color. Just made me think of some diff of things... progress, timeline, the idea of two opposites "blending" together...Just wanted to try it.
For the sizes...I collect tons of magazines...there used to be this sweet magazine store by my old apartment that had every mag you could AND couldn't think of. All different sizes. A lot of fashion mags are pretty huge..plus, we work with this guy at a vintage clothing store and he gave me a bunch of old transfers for shirts from the 80's...and some Easy Rider magazines (have you ever seen those...umm..hilarious)...Friends know I collect them so sometimes when we get together they hand me a big pile, "here ya go, I saved these for you!" I have a bunch from this really high end electronic store that a friend works at downtown. Those are great because they are all in Danish, I think. And the pictures are bizarre.
I started collecting some japanese comic books (I like the artwork) and some random stuff from China Town.
We have a bookshelf in our house that is full of only magazines..heh
